Site Planning, New Construction

Urban townhome site planning, design and construction

When Stinson was with the firm of Lockman and Associates, he was assigned a project to design a townhome site plan for a large piece of land at the southwest intersection of 35th and Reservoir Streets, NW, Washington DC in Georgetown. Little did he know that he would also be designing the townhouses for the initial phase, and later in life, after he had left Lockman and Associates, designing and building two houses: one for himself and one for a friend.

Dropping a major new development into an existing historic neighborhood has its challenges. The site was just deep enough to pull together a traditional urban layout, with primary streets and alleys, and align the access with the existing public road network. Early sales were slow due to a recession, but they eventually picked up and the project became successful.
